Recap of last week’s MPSSA Girls Public High School Basketball.
Week 10 offers a lot of meaningful basketball as we enter this last month of conference play. This is the time of the year when teams start to distinguish themselves from the pack and get ready for their playoff run. Last week River Hill suffered two losses in conference play, to Reservoir and Mt. Hebron. North Point lost to Leonardtown in a Southern Maryland showdown. Flowers and Parkdale were both undefeated in the conference, until Flowers handed them a 35-point loss. Poly is getting playoff ready as they played a tough game against Ursaline and ESPN Top #6 rated guard Gigi Banks. Towson beat Milford to claim first place in the Baltimore County 1 bracket, while Pikesville and Newtown meet this week for first place on the other side of the county bracket. The Key Games this week will feature Seneca Traveling to Whitman, Western travels to Dunbar, Whitman hosting Churchill, and Bethesda host Walter Johnson. Poly will continue its annual game against McDonogh, Oakland Mills will host River Hill, Westminster plays FSK, and South River is hosting Broadneck.
This weekend we have the Battle of Baltimore at St. Frances. Some of the top public and private schools in the DMV will be participating. Schedule is below. As always, let us try to attend games in person to support our student athletes and grow the game that we love so much. I try to be as accurate as possible, so we encourage teams to please submit your game scores to MaxPreps, scorebooklive.com, Twitter, Instagram, or your school’s athletic page. I will always post and repost scores on Instagram, and Twitter at SamBuckMDPrepHoops.
