Weekly Recap: We are now down to the regional Semifinals and Finals week. We are going to see some final four worthy matchups early in the 4A. We are hoping that the MPSSA could really look at seeding the top teams in each region beforehand so that the top teams can have their own region. This would get us the best matchups when reseeding occurs. Then we would truly have a March Madness feel. Congrats to all the conference champions. • Anne Arundel County: South River-3A

• CMC: Catoctin-1A

• Montgomery County: Clarksburg- 4A

1A Region: This Weeks Outlook- Semifinals and Finals

Forest Park awaits the Edmondson/Ben Franklin Winner. Pikesville played solid last week against Milford in the county championship. They should get through their region. Southern is the top seed in the 1A all together but must get through Mountain Ridge and most likely a tough Allegany team. I anticipate a Catoctin and Smithsburg clash on Wednesday. I like Smithsburg and Allegany to win their region. Please keep in mind this is merely my predictions based on watching teams throughout the year. We would love to see a few upsets, good luck to all teams in the region.

1A Region- Pre-Playoffs Final 4 Prediction:

Championship Game (Pikesville vs Forest Park), Southern Garret, Smithsburg.

2A Region: This Weeks Outlook- Semifinals and Finals

Walkersville faces off against FSK. They got the best of FSK earlier in the season. This should be a good one. Upstart Randallstown will travel to Hereford. Carver A&T travels to Newtown. Carver has a good recent win against Towson. I am predicting Gwynn Park and Largo to matchup in the regional finals. Queen Annes and Wicomico should both win their Semi game. The Hammond and Wilde Lake matchup should be a tight game. That maybe a coin toss. I expect Dunbar to win their region. Fallston and Huntington should win their region. Williamsport has a big contest with Middletown Monday, and it will be a battle with either FSK or Walkersville for the regional final. I like FSK. Please keep in mind this is merely my predictions based on watching teams throughout the year. We would love to see a few upsets, good luck to all teams in the region.

2A Region- Pre-Playoffs Final 4 Prediction:

Championship Game (Gwynn Park vs Hammond), New Town, Queen Anne’s.

3A Region: This Weeks Outlook- Semifinals and Finals

Towson travels to Dulaney. The atmosphere at Dulaney’s first playoff game was electric, I expect this one to be the same. Carroll County champions Westminster and ManValley square off for the third time this year. WHS took the first two meetings. It is so hard beating a team three times in one year. Oakdale and Linganore are in the same situation as Oakdale is attempting to beat them for the third time this year. It looks like Poly will be on the road from Aberdeen and then Edgewood in the Regional finals if things go as expected. The Baltimore City Champs are battle tested. I expect Howard and South River to take care of business in their respective regions. Oxon Hill and St. Charles will be a good game if both teams win on Monday. Finally, we could see Oakland Mills and River Hill for the third time, however Atholton and River Hill will be a great game that could go either way. Please keep in mind this is merely my predictions based on watching teams throughout the year. We would love to see a few upsets, good luck to all teams in the region.

3A Region- Pre-Playoffs Final 4 Prediction:

Championship Game (Poly vs South River), Oakland Mills, Dulaney.

4A Region: This Weeks Outlook- Semifinals and Finals

Unfortunately, the 4A is a loaded region. This means we are getting final quality matchups in the semifinals and regional finals. Let us start in Southern Maryland as powerhouse North Point travels to rival Leonardtown Monday. Whoever wins the game will have no let up as the winner will get the winner of Annapolis vs Broadneck. Frederick travels to Seneca Valley and the CMC Champ Urbana travels to Clarksburg. Both of these matchups are definitely final four worthy. I'm picking Seneca to win thei region. Western and Reservoir should win their region. Flowers the overall #1 seed must battle against Wise and maybe Parkdale afterwards. I like Flowers. An upstart Whitman team will travel to Bethesda, and Walter Johnson goes to Churchill. With all these great matchups the 4A state champion winner will be the most battle tested. I think Walter Johnson will this region. Please keep in mind this is merely my predictions based on watching teams throughout the year. Championship Game (Flowers vs North Point), Western, Seneca Valley.
