Disclaimer: This will be my second year covering high school girls’ basketball. I am not affiliated with an organization, and I am not paid to do this. I do partner with 695 Hoops and the Central Maryland Basketball Coaches Association on certain events and publications. My mission is to give a platform to female student athletes across the state of Maryland. Week 2 (Ending December 16th) “Maryland Public School Girls Basketball”
What a great first week of the season. Let’s recap. We had a few major intercounty clashes that will have an impact later down the line. Hammond defeated Oakland Mills. Loch Raven got past Hereford. Howard extended its dominance over their district. McDonough defeated the defending 2A champion Lackey. Forest Park went into Milford and got the win. Pikesville got the win on the road at Loch Raven. Most of our top area teams played in the DC vs Baltimore Challenge and in the “She Got Game Classic.” This week we have some big games in Baltimore city and in Montgomery County. Also, there is the Panther Classic on Saturday. Every week I will give you the must-see games of the week and the updated top 15. All throughout the season I will be heading out to cover the games to watch. My plan is to hit every district in the state. When updating our weekly rankings, we take into consideration the “eye test” and strength of schedule. We try to be as accurate as possible, so we encourage teams to please submit your game scores to MaxPreps, scorebooklive.com, twitter, teams IG page or on your school’s athletic page.
