Week of January 16th, 2023 - Maryland Public School Girls Basketball – Weekly Rankings
Over the last few weeks, I have had the chance to travel across the state. Based off the “Eye test”, strength of schedule, quality wins against tough opponents, and overall record is what these weekly rankings are based off. Poly is hands down the standard of the MD public girls’ basketball landscape now. When it comes to defensive intensity and poise, they’re top tier. They beat a decent Western team handedly on Friday. Then followed it up Saturday with a tough win against an incredibly talented Pallotti’s team, a huge win for public schools. Seneca Valley beat 4A state finalist Clarksburg on the road, a big win for their program. Parkdale beat Flowers. Severna Park defeated Old Mill. South River has been rolling. Williamsport beat 1A state finalist Catoctin easily. This upcoming week we have private vs public on Saturday 1/21.
